Abstract
The paper has two goals. The first is to provide an overview of recent humanitarian operations and logistics research in the OR/MS field.

The second contribution builds on our foundation of past research to outline the gaps between academic research and needs in practice in order to offer insights and motivate areas that could benefit from additional analysis and collaboration.
